Rather than write too much about our first few days here, I thought I would share some pictures. Our five flights to Madang went smoothly and we are loving this beautiful country! We have seen and experienced a lot of new things! We are amazed at the beauty of this place and the kindness and patience of the Papua New Guineans we have met. We have a "tisa" (teacher) named Met who is meeting with us in a small group several days a week as our language teacher as we learn Tok Pisin. It's rainy season here, so it rains A LOT; but it's very refreshing because it often cools things down a bit. The kids have made lots of new friends and so have Matt and I. We have been attending classes on medical care, language, culture, and life in Papua New Guinea. But, we've also had time to go on several hikes through the rainforest, swim in the ocean (Matt and I both swam a mile!), and get to know the other people that are going through the Pacific Orientation Course with us!

Great pictures! Thanks for posting them - we are better able to picture your environment. I guess it is quite a change from Boone, NC. Hope things continue to go smoothly!
ReplyDeleteSOOO exciting to see these pictures. I can just imagine you there, walking around, talking to people, and learning so much. We love you guys and are remembering you daily in prayer!! Let us know specifically what to pray for, 'k? ;)
ReplyDelete...I like Grayson's Stickboy shirt! Trying to put it up as the screensaver here on the bakery computer. ;)
DeleteLove seeing the pics & reading about what is going on. It's pretty crazy to think about how far away you are but that we can communicate so easily & see through your pics the place you are living. Keep us updated. Can't wait to hear & see more. Love y'all

Just read your latest newsletter about village living. Love, love, love the pictures. They really are worth a thousand words. Your letter and blog comments, pictures bring back many memories of our earlier days. What a journey it has been since then with its ups and downs, but I wouldn't trade it and you are so right life here is SO short...and eternity is endless...why not bring as many people as possible with us!
